Mohill's new look streetscape goes to tender

Main Street, Mohill

The tender for Mohill's Public Realm works has been published.

Leitrim County Council approved the planning for the project which will cost €2.8m in 2020. The scheme which is fully funded set out to enhance Mohill's streetscape; making it more accessible and prioritising pedestrians over cars.

The objective is to make the pedestrian experience a more enjoyable experience for all ages, encouraging footfall, improving the connections between places of education, work, retail and community settings and thereby stimulating economic activity in the local economy.

There are also plans to develop a new public space at the O’Carolan monument for community and festival events as well to undertake conservation works to the curtilage of St. Mary’s Church (A Protected Structure) as a means of opening up the view to the church grounds from the newly developed public space at the O’Carolan monument.

Contractors interested in the job have until December 23 to apply.
