Traffic chaos has unfolded in Dublin City this morning, as one of the Irish capital’s busy roads was closed following a gas leak.
Merrion Road, located in Dublin 4 running alongside Merrion Square, was closed to traffic due to a gas leak which occurred on the morning of May 22. Long delays are expected.
An investigation is being carried out by Gas Networks Ireland, with Dublin City Council Traffic & Incident Management Centre warning that diversions in place for motorists as they look to solve the issue.

Diversions in Place
The road joins the Pembroke Road section of the R118 at Herbert Park and runs south-east to Merrion, where it meets the Rock Road at Booterstown. At Merrion Gates, it meets Strand Road just after the latter crosses the DART line.
The closure comes on a particularly busy day in the capital city, as widespread closures are set to take place for the Europa League final in the Aviva Stadium this evening.
