Minister Simon Harris
Gardaí have arrested a man in connection with a hoax bomb threat that was made against the Taoiseach Simon Harris.
The threat was confirmed to be a hoax after gardaí searched Mr Harris' home in June, and was made in a phone call to the Samaritans.
"Today, August 9, gardaí investigating threats against an elected representative in June 2024 have arrested a male in his 50s," a Garda spokesperson said in a statement.
"The male in his 50s is currently detained under Section 4 Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a garda station in the Garda Eastern Region."
It's understood that the man is currently serving a prison sentence, and was removed by Gardaí on a warrant under Section 42 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1999.
An investigation is underway and gardaí say there is no further information available at this time.
