Shannon Airport to get upgrade with 24-hour bus service

Bus Eireann announces raft of improvements

BUS EIREANN is to introduce a 24-hour service between Limerick and Shannon Airport from next week.

The transport firm has announced "significant service enhancements" on the 343 route, which also serves parts of Limerick's northside, Bunratty and Shannon Town en-route to the airport.

The changes take effect from Sunday, August 25, and will see the 343 move from an hourly bus service, to one which departs every 20 minutes at peak-time on weekdays.

This falls to every half an hour off-peak, and on Saturdays.

An hourly service is in place on Sundays and Bank Holidays.

Significantly, however, it will also operate from Limerick Colbert Station through the night with departures at midnight, 1.10am, 2.10am, 3.10am, 4.10am, 4.30am and 5am.

At present, the first service on the 343 is at 5:05am, with the final one leaving Limerick at 11.20pm.

As it stands, the 343 links Limerick to Ennis, via Shannon Airport. But from next week, it will operate solely to Shannon Airport.
