Primary school evacuated in Dublin due to reports of major gas leak
Reports of a "major gas leak" has prompted the evacuation of a primary school in the Lucan area of Dublin on Monday morning.
Children and staff at Scoil Áine Naofa and St Thomas' JNS in Lucan were evacuated as a precaution following reports of the gas leak at around 9.30am on Monday morning.
Dublin Fire Brigade said on X, formerly Twitter, that they were working with Gas Networks Ireland after a gas main was struck near Esker Drive in Lucan.

Dublin Fire Brigade advised people to avoid the area if possible due to traffic restrictions in place. One fire engine has remained at the scene.
The school urged parents to collect their children immediately, adding that "coats and schoolbags to be collected tomorrow."
