Gardaí are appealing for witnesses after a pedestrian was killed after being struck by a car in County Mayo.
Shortly after 6.30pm on Thursday, gardaí and emergency services responded to the incident at Main Street in Ballinrobe.
"The pedestrian, a man aged in his 60s, was pronounced deceased at the scene a short time later. His body has been removed to Mayo General Hospital for post-mortem examination," said a garda spokesperson who added that the scene remains preserved for technical examination.

Investigating gardai say a man, aged in his 30s, was arrested and questioned about the incident but that he has since been released without charge.
APPEAL
Any road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and who were travelling in the Ballinrobe area between 6pm and 7pm on Thursday are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.
