The funeral details for two young Irish men who lost their lives in a tragic crash in Gortahork, Co Donegal, last week have been announced.
Jamie Diver, who was in his 20s, and 17-year-old Shaun McClafferty both died when their vehicle collided with the gable wall of a house in the townland of Baltoney, Gortahork on Friday night.
Two other men were seriously injured in the accident and remain in hospital.
Jamie’s funeral will take place on Wednesday, March 5. His remains will repose at Gortahork Funeral Home on Monday, March 3, from 6pm to 9pm and again on Tuesday, March 4, from 12 noon to 3pm.
The family has requested privacy from 3pm before a private removal to Christ the King Church, Gortahork for 7pm Rosary and overnight repose. His Requiem Mass will be held at 11am on Wednesday, followed by burial in the adjacent cemetery.
Jamie is predeceased by his grandparents Jimmy and Rose McGee and Nora Diver. He is deeply missed by his parents Róise and Damien, brothers Ryan (and partner Niamh) and Keith, nephew Charlie, uncle Kevin and wife Amanda, cousins Eibhlin and Neil, and a wide circle of friends.
Paying tribute on Condolence.ie, one mourner wrote: “Rest in peace beautiful boy, love and prayers to your heartbroken family. ‘Like a brilliant beam of sunlight that lights up a room, gone too soon’. Safe in the arms of Jesus.”
Another wrote: “Sincere sympathy to all Jamie’s family and friends thinking of you all at this sad and difficult time may his gentle soul rest in peace.”
Shaun’s funeral will take place on Thursday, March 6. His remains will be removed from the Eternal Light Chapel of Rest, Mountain Top, Letterkenny on Monday, March 3, at 5pm to his family home in Baltoney, Gortahork for a private wake.
His Funeral Mass will take place at 11am on Thursday in Teach Pobail Chriost Rí, Gortahork, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.
Sharing their condolences with Shaun’s family, one friend said: “Sincere sympathy to all of Shaun Martin’s family and friends thinking of you all at this sad and difficult time may his gentle soul rest in peace.”
Shaun is predeceased by his grandparents John and Máire McClafferty, his aunt Cáit McFadden, and his papa Martin Darcy. He is mourned by his parents Michael and Sharon, sister Sara, grandmother Sheila Darcy, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and friends.
