Gardaí were left stunned at the Bank Holiday weekend after they spotted a driver doing something incredibly dangerous on an Irish motorway.

Gardaí were out and about around Dublin on Bank Holiday Saturday in a new unmarked HGV truck. The truck is being used to help gardaí catch people breaking road traffic laws, particularly drivers using phones and not wearing seatbelts.

However, they were left speechless after spotting one driver in Dublin with their actions earning them an unofficial 'worst offender award.

In a short statement on social media, gardaí said: "Our unmarked HGV unit was busy on the roads around Dublin today detecting drivers using mobile phones and driving carelessly.

"Worst offender award goes to the driver we noticed steering with their elbows while using both hands to eat a salad.
