Ten arrested in large garda operation

Ten people have been arrested during a large-scale garda operation in Cork

Armed gardai were among those that took part in the interdivisional operation, which also involved the dog unit, the stolen vehicle unit and the drug unit.

The action at St Anthony’s Park was targeted at those suspected of drug dealing and theft in the region.

During the course of Monday’s operation, an imitation firearm was seized along with 4,500 euros in cash, approximately 4,000 euros in cocaine, more than 7,200 euros in Alzaprolam tablets, a small quantity of cannabis herb, a number of Rolex watches, a range of power tools and a new caravan.

The drugs seized will be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.

A total of 10 people, men and women, were arrested for a range of offences including public order offences, as well as theft and fraud offences.

A garda spokesperson said investigations are ongoing.
