Man to appear in court following 'suspected' armed robbery of a commercial premises

Gardaí investigating an armed robbery at a commercial premises in Cork have arrested and charged a man.

Gardaí in Cork were alerted to an armed robbery in Broadale, Cork on the evening of Wednesday, April 2.

Shortly before 6:30pm, a male entered a commercial premises on Maryborough Hill with a suspected firearm.

A quantity of cash was stolen and the male left the scene.

No injuries were reported.

A male in his 40s was arrested a short time later at a nearby location and was detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939 at a garda station in Cork city.

He has since been charged, and is scheduled to appear before Cork District Court this morning, Friday April 4.

Investigations are ongoing.
