ALERT: Status Yellow weather warning issued for three counties amid strong, gusty  winds

It is expected to lift at 6am the following day

Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow wind warning for three counties in the west of Ireland

The warning concerns counties Clare, Galway and Kerry, with the Status Yellow coming into effect at 9pm on Sunday, September 14. It is expected to lift at 6am the following day, Monday, September 15. 

The Irish Meteorological Service believes these three counties will be hit with "strong and gusty westerly winds." Potential impacts of this wind warning include difficult travelling conditions and debris or loose objects being displaced.

According to Met Éireann, Sunday night is expected to be windy, with strong, gusty westerly winds and gales on Atlantic coasts. Widespread showers will continue with longer spells of rain in the west and northwest which will be heavy at times. Lowest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees.

Looking ahead to Monday, the day will also be windy with strong and gusty westerly winds and widespread showers, heavy at times in the north and northwest with spot flooding possible. The showers will ease during the evening. Highest temperatures of 13 to 17 degrees.

Remaining blustery for a time on Monday night with fresh westerly winds, most areas will be dry with clear spells and isolated showers. However, more frequent showers will continue in Ulster. Lowest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees.
