A male in his 50s has been charged in connection with the death of a woman in Tipperary, whose body was discovered at her home at Nenagh on the afternoon of Sunday 4th August 2024.
The woman has been named locally as Josephine ‘Josie’ Ray.
Gardaí believe that the woman may have been killed by someone that was known to her.
Tipperary FM reported that the 89 year old great grandmother was discovered in her bed by a family member after neighbours raised the alarm.
It is understood that the woman died from asphyxiation. The elderly woman was found with bruising on her face.

Sources have claimed that there was no sign of forced entry at her two-storey terraced house, and that the woman’s body was found in a bedroom by a family member.
Gardaí had previously confirmed the arrests of a man and woman, both aged in their 50s, in connection with her death.
A man is due to appear before Nenagh District Court in connection with the death this morning on Friday 17th October 2025 at 10:30 am.
