An Post has confirmed how deliveries and Post Office services will operate over the post-Christmas and New Year period, as many people across Ireland continue to wait on parcels, cards and important mail.
With Christmas Day and St Stephen’s Day now past, An Post says a full national delivery service will operate on Tuesday, December 30, and Wednesday, December 31. This means postmen are back on the roads right across the country in the run-up to New Year’s Eve.
There will be no deliveries on New Year’s Day, Thursday, January 1, before full services resume again on Friday, January 2.
For customers hoping to call into their local branch, Post Offices have also reopened following the Christmas closure. An Post confirmed that branches reopened for full service on Monday, December 29 and Tuesday, December 30, allowing people to collect parcels, send post and deal with missed deliveries.

However, there is another short closure to note. Post Offices will be closed again on Wednesday, December 31 for New Year’s Eve, before reopening nationwide on Friday, January 2.
An Post is encouraging customers waiting on deliveries to use the An Post App, which it says is the quickest way to check the status of parcels and avoid unnecessary trips.
The company also shared a festive update, revealing that Santa Claus has now replied to more than 130,000 children across Ireland who wrote to him this Christmas.
An Post said its staff, Postmasters and a team of helpers in Rehab worked together to make sure children’s letters reached the North Pole and that Santa’s replies were delivered safely in the days after Christmas.
“Some children didn’t include their full address but Santa definitely received all the letters and knows exactly where everyone will be on Christmas Eve,” An Post said.
With deliveries back in full swing and Post Offices reopening again later this week, many households can now look forward to finally receiving those last few Christmas surprises.
