RIP Rory Shortall
A massive community in Ireland has been left heartbroken after a young boy from Wexford passed away suddenly in Wexford General Hospital.
Rory Shortall was from Ballindaggin, Wexford and formerly Enniscorthy, Wexford and died unexpectedly at Wexford General Hospital on 7th January 2026.
Rory was the dearly beloved son of Peter and Kay (Kathleen) and cherished brother of Dara and Aoife.
He will always be remembered and loved by his heartbroken parents, brother and sister, grandparents Joe and Betty Shortall and Margaret Doyle, aunts, uncles, cousins and all his friends.
A funeral mass was held in Wexford today, on Saturday January 10, in St. Colman’s Church, Ballindaggin at 12 noon with a burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

FCJ Secondary school posted a special post following the tragic passing of Rory on Facebook which said: "Everybody in FCJ is heartbroken with the loss of our friend, Rory Shortall.
"Although the outpouring of grief has been tough to navigate over the past few days in our school, it is a testament to the type of young fellow Rory was.
"In between the tears, our students recalled all the great moments they had with Rory. How he would always have a smile on his face, that he’d never pass you by without saying hello and ultimately his unwavering kind nature. He was never found without his huge circle of friends, the lads. Everyday below in the astro at break and lunch, pucking the ball, laughing, joking, and bursting with his signature charisma. We will never forget Rory, and in fact, this is how we will remember him.
Heartfelt messages have also poured in on RIP.ie, from those who knew and loved Rory, with one mourner writing,
"Sending love and strength to all of Rory's family during this hard time, his smile would light up a room. Rest Easy Rory you will be forever missed".
Another message said, "Our deepest sympathy to Peter, Kay, Dara, Aoife and all the Doyle and Shortall families. Way too soon for such a wonderful chap to leave us but he has left so many wonderful memories by all accounts. Fly high Rory and watch out for all your heartbroken family and friends".
"Heartfelt sympathy to the Shortall family on the devastating loss of your beautiful son. I have just looked at his very emotional Mass today, when a lovely ceremony for a beautiful boy, who is looking down on you all from his heavenly home. May Rory rest forever in peace," another mourner said.
