Micheál Martin confirms annual St Patrick's Day trip to United States

All 15 members of Cabinet and all 23 junior ministers represent Ireland overseas for St Patrick's Day

Micheál Martin has confirmed that he and eight other Government representatives will travel to the United States for St Patrick's Day despite the turbulent relations between the US and the EU.

The Taoiseach is expected to meet with US President Donald Trump at the White House in Washington DC

All 15 members of Cabinet and all 23 junior ministers, will take part in St Patrick's Day trips across 50 countries this year to represent the Irish Government.

It has also been confirmed that eight ministers will join the Taoiseach in the US who will also visit Philadelphia.

Minister Helen McEntee will visit Boston, Minister Peter Burke will visit New York, Minister James Browne will visit Chicago, Minister Patrick O'Donovan will visit Atlanta and Savannah while Minister Martin Heydon will visit San Francisco.

Other US trips include Minister-of-State Niamh Smyth travelling to Miami while Minister-of-State Date Robert Troy will visit Austin, Texas. Ceann Comhairle Verona Murphy is due to travel to Los Angeles.

Elsewhere, Tánaiste Simon Harris is scheduled to visit Paris and London with Minister Darragh O'Brien traveling to Brazil. Minister Hildegarde Naughton will visit Chile and Argentina.

Minister for Justice Jim O'Callaghan will visit Greece in March while Minister Norma Foley will visit the Holy See in Vatican City.

Other trips include Minister Dara Calleary visiting Canada, Minister James Lawless travelling to Australia, Minister Jack Chambers travelling to Senegal and Nigeria while Minister for Health Jennifer Carroll MacNeill will visit Germany.
