Three of Trident’s top swimmers were making waves at the Regional Development Meet in Longford last weekend, notching up some very impressive times and picking up a few medals in the process.
Trident boys Conor Lanigan and Eoghan Rynn both competed in the 100m Butterfly, with Lanigan taking a full five seconds off his entry time to claim second place and a Division 2 qualification on a time of 1:28.05. Rynn was hot on his heels, taking the bronze in a time of 1:36.56.
Rynn was up again in the 100m Backstroke and smashed his PB of 1:32.00 to hit the wall on 1:27.88 and only narrowly missed his Division 2 time.
Teammate Rachel O’Connor put in a strong performance in the 200m Breaststroke knocking more than 3 seconds off her entry time with a result of 3:35.00.
After his gruelling performance in the Backstroke event, Rynn was up again in the 100m Individual Medley and the 100m Freestyle, holding fast to his times gained only two weeks earlier in Roscommon.
Conor Lanigan will now go on to represent Trident at the Irish Division 2 Championships next month in Limerick and we wish him the best of luck.
In the meantime, to celebrate the end of a very busy and successful year for Trident, the club is hosting an end of season gala on Sunday June 24, from 5pm at Aura Leisure. The event is open to both current and potential members and will feature 25 metre and 50 metre events in each stroke.
For more information on joining Trident Swim Club or taking part in the club’s gala, please contact Trident Head Coach Samantha Weaver by text on 083 160 2043.
All entries for the event must be received in advance as there will be no entries taken on the day.
