Free workshops on Sports Capital grants programme

The following is this month's news from the Leitrim Sports Partnership.

2018 Sports Capital Programme

Free workshops on the Sports Capital programme will be given by staff in the Sports Capital section and will cover common pitfalls, a page by page guide to the application form and a questions and answers session.

Grant workshops taking place in Longford in the Rugby Club next Tuesday 2nd October 2, from 7pm- 9pm, details here, and in Donegal in the Abbey Hotel on Wednesday October 3, from 7pm- 9pm. You must register for both workshops via eventbrite.

The deadline for making an application is 5pm on Friday October 19. Organisation must be registered on www.sportscapitalprogramme.ie by 5pm Friday October 5. More information on www.sportscapitalprogramme.ie.

Safeguarding 1

Leitrim Sports Partnership are running a safeguarding 1 course on Thursday October 18, in Leitrim County Council Offices from 7pm to 10pm.

All Coaches, Children's Officers and Designated Liaison Persons (DLP) must first complete the three hour Child Welfare & Protection Basic Awareness Course. This course educates participants on the implementation of best practice in protecting the welfare of children involved in sport.

Sports First Aid

Leitrim Sports Partnership are running a Sports First Aid training on Saturday October 13, from 9.30am-4.30pm in Leitrim County Council Offices.

This course is ideal for coaches and volunteers who deal with sports injuries or for those who offer immediate emergency care at sporting / training events. The aim is to provide relevant training to personnel to protect and treat those who become injured or unwell during training events or competition.

The course covers most of the situations which can arise at the scene of an accident or emergency. It will cover: vital signs, accident procedure, injury management, airway management, common medical emergencies-fainting, diabetic emergencies, burns, haemorrhage control, sprains and strains, and spinal injuries etc. The course costs €20 per person.

Day Time Walking Groups

Ballinamore Day time walking group meet on Mondays at 12 noon at Ballinamore Library. Drumshanbo Day Time Walking Group meet at Drumshanbo Library at 9.45am. Everyone welcome and free to join.
