CONCERNED Irish Businesses called for a public inquiry into the process of the Quinn Insurance administration at an information meeting in Ballinamore last week.

The underground movement was promoted by a few posters and text messages forwarded to locals with no formal invites extended to media or politicians.

The Ballinamore meeting held in the Commerical Hotel followed on from two similar events previously held in Enniskillen and Cavan and was driven by Concerned Irish Businesses and Quinn workers who wanted to “give the correct information” on the current situation to the public. Despite the lack of publicity, a large number of local business people and local Quinn workers attended the meeting.

Pat Gilhooly chaired the meeting and the crowd was presented with a long and detailed plan for the future of Quinn Insurance by a director of the company Kevin Lunney. The Quinn proposal was endorsed and promoted by John Maguire from Concerned Irish Businesses (CIB).
