Cllr Seadhna Logan.
The water main between Eslin and Mohill has burst 23 times in just two years with the most recent problem arising less than two weeks ago.
Although the ongoing issues with this water main will be resolved by a major Irish Water upgrade costing in the region of €500,000, Cllr Seadhna Logan said that the situation has been unbearable for those impacted.
"This main has burst repeatedly and sometimes it has burst a number of times in a matter of days," he said at the recent Council meeting.
A spokesperson for Leitrim County Council acknowledged that this water main had been a source of problems over the last two years but pointed out that Irish Water had recently approved works which would resolve these issues.
He said that the expected start date for the works would be early next year.
