Time to get the hat, gloves and scarf out - the weekend looks cold
Did you get snow last night? Well today Friday 17th will remain cold and showery with sunny spells.
Showers will be heavy with the risk of thundery downpours, especially in the west and north and some showers could turn wintry again on higher ground. Top temperatures of 4 to 8 degrees in blustery west to northwesterly winds.
Tonight will be cold with widespread frost. Showers will become mainly confined to coastal regions of the west and north and some will still be wintry. Clear skies will develop in many other areas.
The outlook for the weekend is for the cold weather to continue. It looks like there will be a lot of dry weather on both days with sunny spells and just light winds. Most of any shower activity will be in coastal regions of the west and north.
Met Eireann says the nights will be very cold with widespread severe frost on Saturday and Sunday night and air temperatures as low as minus 3 or minus 4 degrees. Daytime temperatures will be low as well, between 4 and 7 degrees at best.
So wrap up and bring an umbrella!
