West Cavan Writer wins Children's Book of the Year

A West Cavan author won a prestigious book award this weekend.

Bawnboy native David Rudden scooped the Children’s Book of the Year award in the senior category at the Bord Gáis Energy Irish Book Awards 2016.

His fantasy book, ‘Knights of the Borrowed Dark’ gained him the accolade at the award ceremony in Dublin.

More than 45,000 readers voted for the category winners and are being urged to go to the Irish Book Awards website to choose their overall Book of the Year.

Dave's father Aiden, retired teacher of St Mogues' College in Bawnboy had been managing Aughnasheelin GAA.
