No mention of Brexit in the budget

"There is no mention of Brexit in the budget" exclaimed Fianna Fáil councillor Sinead Guckian.

Cllr Guckian was speaking at Leitrim County Council's 2017 budget meeting last week. She noted that there was no mention of Brexit's possible impacts on the county next year.

She said Leitrim relied on peace and cross border funding and this could be impacted.

CEO Frank Curran said the council could not take Brexit into account until they know more about the impacts. He said they are hoping UK companies looking to relocate to Europe will look to Carrick-on-Shannon in 2017.
