A resource centre in the heart of Carrick on Shannon supporting individuals with disabilities is thanking the local community for their support at a recent coffee morning.

Tus Nua opened their doors to locals on Wednesday June 14 in the hopes of raising funds for programmes, activities, equipment and outings for members of the service.

According to the Programme Supervisor at Tus Nua, Rebecca Harrold, the fundraiser went “extremely well”.

People attending the centre participate in a wide variety of activities in their local community such as volunteering with Leitrim Volunteer Centre, and participating in Tidy Towns with responsibility for Park Lane through the ‘Adopt a Road’ initiative.

They also attend educational programmes through the Sligo and Leitrim Educational Training Board (ETB) and National Learning Network (NLN), amongst many other activities.

Harrold continued: “Tus Nua would like to acknowledge the tremendous support we received from local businesses in the area who helped, supported and donated to the fundraiser.
