This week Backstage Theatre’s Autumn brochure will arrive through letterboxes across the region, bursting with a host of unmissable events to keep you busy this Autumn.

With shows already selling fast, it’s clear there is a big hunger for entertainment and Backstage has just the menu to whet the appetites of local audiences.

There is a wealth of music gigs this season with “The Greatest 80’s” selling out in record time and Donegal favourites, “Onóir,” already nearing the coveted “sold out” status. Tickets are also moving fast for both “The Ennio Morricone Experience,” celebrating the work of the legendary film score composer of "The Mission" and much more, as well as the “Mick Flavin” concert that celebrates fifty years in the business.

Fellow Longford musician “Brendan Kelly” will also take to the stage this December for a much anticipated concert while “Route 66,” “Rob Strong,” “Sean Keane,” “Abba Tribute” and “The Fureys” make a welcome return this season.

On the theatre front Seamus O’Rourke is back by popular demand with good old “Mossy Flood'' and Druid stallworth, Aaron Monaghan, takes to the stage in Livin Dred’s brand new comedy “Super-Bogger” written by Aaron’s wife and Moonboy star Clare Monnelly.

The season kicks off with “The Parish,” another anticipated comedy that has been making waves this summer.

The award-winning “Oliver Cromwell is Really Very Sorry” is an outrageous and raucous musical comedy about the man the English don’t remember and the Irish will never forget written by award-winning Roscommon born cabaret star and writer Xnthony.

“Blue Thunder” will take audiences out of the auditorium for an up-close and personal theatrical experience that takes place in a van (tickets for this unique experience are limited so early booking is advised.)  Star of “An Cailin Cuin,” Michael Patrick, brings historical figure “Sean Moylan'' to life in his funny and interesting account of key events during the War of Independence.

Schools and families have lots to look forward to with Longford’s own Darren Yorke bringing his beautiful show “Fergal” to stage for schools, families and a special sensory production also.

Other shows to look out for are “Rothar” by Branar Theatre, “Polar Bear & Pengin”, an exciting poetry workshop and Livin Dred’s “A Christmas Carol.”

Backstage Theatre’s are proud to have teamed Backstage Youth Theatre up with professional director Urusla McGinn to bring you “Variations,” an unmissable play about family, string theory and breakfast and the “The Hotel Room,” a must-see comedy starring a host of local talent.

There will be more local talent on display with Longford Variety Group’s Night Fever, Evolution Stage School’s Time to Shine and St Christopher’s anticipated Christmas concert “Cinderella.”   Longford Flower Show and  Pat and Faye Shortt complete the Christmas line-up.

Tickets and details of all Autumn events plus some unmissable shows coming up this Spring, including the Panto, Mikel Murfi's latest show, Patrick Feeney and much more, are available on backstage.ie, 0433347888 or by picking up a brochure locally.
