Local author Lorena Spalla launched her beautiful children’s book “Rain, Rain Don’t Go Away” in Drumlish Library, Co Longford on Saturday, December 16.
Originally from Brazil, Lorena lives with her partner Patrick McLoughlin (from Ballinamore) and their son Matteo in Rooskey.
Lorena has a postgraduate in English Language Teaching and works with children in Longford.
She first published the book in her native Portuguese language last year and this year published it in English with the help of Fiona Heavey and Karina Barbosa Dos Santos.
The beautiful detailed pictures are illustrated by Luana Chinaglia and the book is edited by Carlos De Brito E Mello.
Lorena dedicates the book to her son Matteo, who pushed her to embrace the wet Irish weather and get outside to see the fun rain can bring.
The rhyming book turns the old poem “Rain, Rain Go Away” on its head, with a much more positive mindset that inspires young and old to use their imagination and creative side to see the fun and games that can be played in the rain.
It promotes the wonder of nature to children and adults and is a wonderful gift, as well as a motivational tool to pop on your raincoat and boots and get outside.
The book is available to purchase on Amazon.
