Lough Allen College says it is delighted to announce the appointment of Mrs Rachel Shannon as Principal of the Leitrim school.
Mrs Shannon began her teaching career in 2007 as a teacher of French and English.
She was appointed assistant principal in 2017, acting as Additional Educational Needs Co-ordinator in recent years, a role fulfilled with great energy, and care.
"Rachel’s dedication to creating a supportive environment where every student feels safe, seen and valued makes her well-placed to lead Lough Allen College," the school said in a social media post. 
"As a native of the area, she looks forward to leading all aspects of school life as well as building strong ties with the local community and strengthening these connections.
"We warmly congratulate and wish her every success as she commences her new leadership role in Lough Allen College," the school added.
Many posts of congratulations greeted the news with one writing: "I’m absolutely thrilled. Wishing you every success in your new position. You will excel, like you always do. Congratulations".
