Cllr Gerry Dolan proposed that repair works be carried out on the second half of Laragan Road, L7305, in Drumshanbo from where previous resurfacing works took place.
He said it is one of the most used roads in the area and a good job was done on the first half of it a few years ago, but the second half is in a bad condition with potholes. He said that forestry felling has also started on that road.
Cllr Dolan said the last time that section of road was patched with tar and chips but it was very wet weather and it was washed out of it. He asked that the road be done with black top to fill the big potholes. He was told the road is not included in the council’s restoration improvement grant programme.
However, District Engineer, Darragh O’Boyle said he will get the patching unit out there and will have a look at it and will put in tarmac instead of tar and chip if that is suitable and will get in contact with the forestry company.
