Men’s Team: Training continues for the men on Wednesday and Friday in Castlecara at 8pm.
Minis and Youth Rugby: Carrick Rugby club will be holding a free Open Fun Day on Easter Saturday, March 30, at 11 am in Leitrim Community Field for any child interested in learning about Mini Rugby and Mini Tag Rugby. The day will consist of Tag rugby for new and existing players, bouncy castles for all ages and tea and coffee for parents. All our Mini Coaches are volunteers or parents and IRFU accredited coaches and referees. All Mini coaches are Garda vetted. Coach Seamus Connolly is the coordinator for this event and is seeking volunteers, ‘from the club’ e.g. parents of players and senior players and or friends. Similar to the home blitz, any help would be appreciated!
Unfortunately, due to the recent weather conditions, the U11s IRFU Connacht Blitz in Athlone was cancelled last Saturday. We will update all parents and players by email of any re-schedule date as soon as we are informed.
Connacht Youth Trials: The final round of screening trials for age grade players will take place during the Easter Break. During this period both the U-14 and U-15 trials will be held on a Regional Basis. The U-16 trials are still centrally based in Galway. CRFC Youth Section are delighted that we have seven players trying out in the three age sections for Connacht positions. On behalf of the CRFC Mini Section, we wish them the best of luck with their Trials.
On Saturday last, we had our final training session of the season. Despite the freezing cold conditions this didn’t deter the resolute character of our young players. The session was as full and busy as any other and a credit to every single player for their commitment to their team, their club and to themselves. Thanks to every player and parent for their commitment during the year. We hope that you have a great summer and we look forward to seeing you in September.
Also, a big thank you to all the coaches for giving up, not just a few or the odd Saturday morning, but all their Saturday mornings for the last season. Thanks lads for your commitment to the next generation of Brian O’Driscolls & Shane Leydens. Enjoy your well deserved break!
Ladies’ Team: Carrick Ladies are due to take on Sligo RFC Ladies in the Connacht Cup on April 7. The Ladies’ Team welcome new members with no previous rugby playing experience necessary.
