Carrick Community School, Scoil Mhuire Bornacoola and Gaelscoil Liatroma
Three schools in Leitrim have been allocated funding for new special classes as part of a nationwide provision of more than 350 classes.
The Leitrim schools set to receive a new special class are Scoil Mhuire National School, Bornacoola, Gaelscoil Liatroma in Carrick-on-Shannon, and Carrick-on-Shannon Community School.
Investment had previously been made in Scoil Mhuire NS in Bornacoola, which received a funding allocation under the additional accommodation scheme for a five-classroom extension towards the end of 2024.
Hildegarde Naughton informed local TD and Minister of State Frank Feighan of the funding allocations for Leitrim schools under the 2026/2027 cycle, a development which he has welcomed.
“I am delighted to learn of this new allocation of new special classes for the Leitrim schools. I do hope that they will be of significant assistance to the children who attend them and will enhance all-round the school itself,” said Minister Feighan.
