Carrick Town reached the final of the Sligo Leitrim U-15 Shield competition on Saturday by virtue of a 6-0 win over a weak Ballygawley side.
Having won all their games in this competition they will have to wait and see who their opposition will be, possibly St. John’s or Arrow Harps. Saturday’s game was their easiest to date and they got off to a great start when a Cormac O’Rourke free kick rebounded to Narada Patrasco to shoot the opener.
O’Rourke himself got the second with a fine shot after Brian McElgunn’s shot was blocked. Ballygawley were relying on the quick break but keeper Sean Cox was alert and saved well on the few occasions.
Carrick’s defence were dominant with O’Rourke and Daire Guckian winning everything. Wing forward Eoin Lyons added a third just before half time when he made space for himself by rounding the defender and shot to the net. The second was one way traffic, Ballygawley heads went down after Carrick’s Patrasco got his second with a fine left foot shot from the wing. He completed his hat trick moments later.
Carrick had chances from Cameron Crossan, Hmen Allakarami, who was the star of this performance, Hasib Allakarami, Cormac Smith and Conor McGoldrick all blocked before Eoin Lyons rounded the scoring with his second well taken goal after being put through with a brilliant pass from substitute Jack Healy.
Sean Cox (Capt), Brian McElgunn, Hmen Allakarami, Cormac O’Rourke, Daire Guckian, Eoin McLoughlin, Cormac Smith, Eoin Lyons, Cameron Crossan, Conor McGoldrick, Narada Patrasco. Substitutes (all used) – Oisin Feely, Hasib Allakarami, Jack O’Dowd, Jack Healy, Mathew Bourke.
