U-14 : We maintained our position at the top of Division 1 with a 7-0 demolition of rivals Boyle Celtic at the Showgrounds last Saturday.
After an even first 10 minutes Carrick’s superior passing and movement particularly from Jack Matthews, Sam Barnes, Oisin Boland and Niall Morahan in midfield enabled the lads to take control of the match. Jason Conlon hit a first half hat-trick and goals from Shane Surlis, Oisin Boland and Paul Keaney left the visitors 6-0 down at half-time.
Carrick introduced Fintan Earley, Donal Moreton and Jack Collum at the interval and the latter scored the only goal of the second half from the penalty spot after he was brought down when through on goal.
Outstanding displays from a back four of Paul Keaney, Mark Diffley, Sean O’Dowd and Shane Finn kept the visitors at bay on the odd occasion they threatened, and ensured keeper Paul Woods had another relatively quiet game.
