U-12: Training continues on Tuesday 4.45pm.
U-13: Our U-13 team continued their impressive 100% start to the new season with a hard fought 1-0 victory over local rivals Boyle Celtic on Saturday morning. Oisin Boland got the only goal of the game with a well taken finish after a fine move with 5 minutes remaining of the first half. The Carrick lads created plenty of chances in the second half to kill off the opposition with both Jack Matthews and Diarmuid Kelleher going agonizingly close to getting the second. However neither side could get a breakthrough and the Carrick side held out for the three points. This win guarantees progress to the next phase of the competition. Well done Mickey, Mel and the lads. Training continues every Wednesday at 5-6pm.
U-15: We had a good 6-0 away win over Yeats Utd (Drumcliffe, Sligo) in the League. We got off to a good start with Narada Patrasco scoring after 5 minutes with a shot from a tight angle. Cameron Crossan followed with a brace of goals, the first a shot onto the crossbar and in off the keeper. He chipped the keeper with his second. This left the half time score at 3-0. Ten minutes into the second half a corner for Carrick was only half cleared and Eoin McLoughlin shot to the net. Minutes later he got his second with a powerful drive from outside the penalty area which the keeper could only get his hands to. Substitute Eoin Lyons finished off the scoring when he ran through the Yeats defence to side foot the ball past the advancing keeper. On a great day for a game we had 17 players and everyone played to their best. Special mention to our keeper Sean Cox who was outstanding. Thanks to Pawel and Ger for their help and to the parents Alan and Alselm who drove. Training continues in The Showgrounds from 5 to 6.15.
Seniors: Carrick Town Senior team played Real Tubber in a top of the table clash on Sunday last in the Showgrounds at 11am. Carrick started off slowly and fell behind after 10 mins to a harsh penalty decision which Tubber converted. They doubled their lead 10 mins later after some sloppy play by the home team. This seemed to wake Carrick up and they dominated the rest of the half creating plenty of chances. Steven Sirle pulled one back 10 mins before the break and they were unlucky not to be level 5 mins later when they hit the post with the keeper beaten. This left score 2-1 at half time. Carrick attacked right from start of second half and had Real Tubber pinned in there own half but missed a couple of easy chances to draw level. The town kept the pressure on for whole half but could not find the net even though they created lots of chances. Real Tubber managed to score on the break with 10 mins left to leave final score 3-1 to the visitors. Carrick somehow managed to lose the match even though they were the better team and played some great football at times. On Sunday next we are away to Ballygawley Utd, kick-off 11am. Usual travel arrangements.
Sligo-Leitrim League Squad call up: We done to Senior player Stephen Sirle on being called up to the Sligo-Leitrim Senior League squad for this season. Stephen, a prolific scorer for Carrick Town over the last number of years, has started training with the squad and becomes the third senior player the represent the club on the League team - John Dennany 1979 and Frankie Smith 1982.
