Special Olympics, in association with Leitrim County Council, are calling on all cyclists enthusiasts to participate in the Lough Allen Charity Cycle.
This event, on Sunday, September 15, is proudly sponsored by Leitrim County Council and will raise funds for Special Olympics projects in Co Leitrim, while showcasing Lough Allen as a tourist attraction.
This event will culminate with a Family Funday at The Lough Allen Hotel, Drumshanbo.
With cycling growing ever more popular as a means of keeping fit, the Lough Allen Special Olympics cycle which is to take place onSeptember 15, will consist of two routes a 70km and a 115km both of which are to take place around the beautiful picturesque scenery which surrounds Lough Allen Co Leitrim.
The cycle will commence at 9:30 am for the 115 km route and will take in Dowra, Glenfarne, Kiltyclogher, Manorhamilton, Drumkeerin, Leitrim Village, Kilclare, Drumcong and finish at the Lough Allen Hotel.
The 70km cycle will commence at 10:30 am and take in Dowra, Drumkeerin, Leitrim Village, Kilclare, Drumcong and finish at The Lough Allen Hotel.
On the morning of the cycle all cyclists must be present for registration at 8am for the 115km and at 9am for the 70km route. Registration fee of €25 includes the option of having a sports massage for all competitors after the race.
All participants will have access to the shower facilities at Lough Allen Leisure Centre.
All the money raised from the registration fee is going towards Special Olympics Connacht. However cyclists may pick up a sponsorship card for any charity of their choice and give all the money they raise to that chosen charity.
The family funday will take place at The Lough Allen Hotel in from 1pm. There will be face painting, bouncy castles, music and entertainment.
