Swimmer Carrie McDaid continues to shine in the swimming pool as the 12-year-old Dromahair girl set a new personal best at the Irish National Short-course Swimming Championships in Lisburn.
Competing at the Lagan Valley Leisureplex at the Irish National Short Course event in a 25m pool, the County Sligo Swimming Club member was one of only three 12-year-olds who qualified for the 100m freestyle event as she rubbed shoulders with Ireland’s top swimmers.
Carrie’s qualification time going into the event was 1:03.07 but she managed to knock half a second of her time, swimming a magnificent time of 1:02.57 and a new pb.
The next competition for this young talented swimmer is the Connacht SC Championships which take place next weekend in Athlone, followed by the Swim Ulster International Meet/Dave McCullagh Memorial gala which takes place in Bangor in early March.
