The Leitrim Senior Football Championship Final will take place a week earlier than recent years if the proposed Leitrim GAA Master Fixture plan for the 2023 Club Championships is adopted.
Over recent years, the Senior Final has taken place on the second weekend of October but under the proposals for the 2023 fixtures, the Senior Final is pencilled in for the weekend of October 7-8, with the Senior grade getting underway a week earlier this year on the August Bank Holiday weekend, August 5-6.
That will also mean that the Intermediate Final moves a week earlier to October 14-15, with the Intermediate grade starting the same weekend as the Senior grade. The Junior Final is also pencilled in for the weekend of October 14-15, the competition starting on the weekend of August 12-13.
It is also proposed that some group games in the Senior and Intermediate grade will take place on Friday evenings with the Senior Quarter Finals on September 9-10, with the semi-finals on the weekend of September 24-25.
The Junior B & C Finals are provisionally fixed for the weekend of October 21-23, with the Senior Hurling Final set for the same weekend.
The earlier finishing dates may also help avoid the complication of deteriorating pitches affecting games but it will leave a longer break before the 2023 Leitrim club winners go into Connacht Club action.
Leitrim's Senior Football winners due to face the winners of the Sligo and Roscommon on the weekend of November 18-19, with the Intermediate winners in action a week earlier against the Mayo champions on November 11-12.
Leitrim's new Junior champions will face the Sligo champions on the weekend of November 18-19, while the Hurling champions will be in action over the weekend of November 4-5.
