Next Sunday July 23, will see the staging of The Leitrim Grand Slam of Darts Championship. This is one of our major ranking events of the year with loads of ranking points on offer.
We already had 80 throwers for our Regional Super League trials so we hope to see you all there on Sunday. New faces are more than welcome. It promises to be a great day of darts with 8 boards in operation. The early rounds will be run on a round robin basis proceeding to knockout so players are guaranteed several games.
Will it be Sean Maguire, Stefan McCusker, Jason Vickers or Ian Flynn from the Ballinamore league, or could it be Kieran Gallagher, David McManus, Mark Doyle or Gerard McGoldrick from the Breffni League. From the Mohill League, we have the likes of Colm Beirne, David Reynolds, Mark Tighe or Paul Bohan all capable of taking the title.
From the Lough Allen League, will Raymond Mulvey add to his Masters crown or could it be the ever improving Declan McGoldrick or will it be one of our very promising young players like Charlie McDermott, Ben Mulvey or James Rock.
Those players are just a small sample of likely winners and it won't surprise me in the slightest if the winner appears from the rest of the pack.
The Blue Devon is the venue, boards open at 12:30, last entries at 2pm with games starting at 2:30. There will be eight boards in play and entry fee is €10. This is a county trial event open to players from Leitrim leagues and players eligible to play for Leitrim, looking forward to a great day's darts.
