As preparations continue for the start of the SSE Airtricity League season, it was today announced that Sligo Rovers midfielder Jack Keaney has been called up to the Ireland U-21 training camp which will include a friendly against the Ireland amateur team on Wednesday evening.
Keaney is the second Rovers player to receive a call-up to the squad but the other player, John Mahon has been forced to withdraw from the squad due to injury.
With the new Premier Division season set to get underway on February 15, with a visit to the home of the defending league champions, Dundalk, it has been a busy few days at The Showgrounds with a number of new signings announced.
It was today confirmed that defender Lewis Banks will join the club having previously captained the Stoke City U-23 team.
That signing follows on from the news that the club have signed Nigerian striker Brendan Ogbu as manager Liam Buckley gets ever closer to finalising his squad for the coming season.

There will be a number of new faces at the club for the coming season with Jamican Romeo Parkes and Bermudian Dante Leverock also signed for the coming season. The club have also secured the services of forward Ronan Murray who played with Dundalk last year and Johnny Dunleavy who arrives after a successful spell at Cork City.
