Chill Insurance18 hole Stableford: A great turnout during festival week for our Open competition kindly sponsored by Chill Insurance, with no less than 77 entries in total it was an excellent turnout.
The winner of the mens competition was Gerry O’Brien with 39 points and second was Adrian Gallogly with 38 points. The ladies section was won by visitor Vera Waters with 40 points and second was Evelyn Smith with 36 points. Well done to all involved and thanks again to Chill Insurance for sponsoring the Open week. Don’t forget there is a chance to win €300 off your next insurance renewal with chill insurance. Connacht Shield: Hard luck to the Connacht Shield team who lost to Rosses Point on August 12, well done to Paddy Leddy and his team.
Juveniles: This Thursday Ballinamore Golf are again privileged to have one of Connacht’s top teaching professionals at the club. Leslie Robinson will be at the club as follows; girls from 10:30am sharp, boys from 11:30am sharp. Lesson cost is €5 per child. Juvenile Day: The annual Juvenile Day gives juveniles the chance to compete in a competition among each other, this juvenile day is this Sunday at 9am-1pm. Presentation of prizes will be made as soon as all golfers return. Could all parents please help out on Sunday as this will be an extremely busy morning for all. All Members please note that course is closed this Sunday Morning from 9am-1pm
Ladies Section: Congratulations to the ladies team who took the Shannon Erne Alliance title in Crover House GC on Monday last. Teams from the Slieve Russell, Belturbet, Cavan, Crover and Ballinamore took part with a round played at each of the five courses over the summer.
The Ballinamore team went into the final round in pole position having won in Cavan and at home in Ballinamore and they took the title in style with a win in Crover. Congratulations to the team last Monday of Breda Travers, Breige Solon, Brid Sullivan, Dorothy O’Connor, Evelyn Smith and Eileen Ward and also to Mary Ryan Leddy, Fiona Weisz, Jill Webster, Annie Co and Noreen Lynam who also played in earlier rounds.
The Open week concluded on Sunday with Vera Waters from Blacklion GC taking the ladies title with an excellent score of 40 points, Evelyn Smith was second with 36 and Kathy McCabe, another visitor, third. This year’s matchplay final will see Breda Travers defend her title against Evelyn Smith.
Finally next Sunday will see the final big event of the season with the Lady President’s day competition. With the weather expected to be favourable we hope to have a large entry for Anne Lyons big day and we wish her well.
