The Connacht AAI Even Ages Cross Country Championships along with the Provincial Senior and Junior events for both men and women will take place in Belleek, Ballina, on Sunday next with the first race at 1.00 p.m.
The events are: U-12 2000m Boys, 2000m Girls; U-14 3,000m Boys, 3,000m girls; U-16 4,000m Boys, 4,000m Girls; U-18 6,000m Boys, 5,000m Girls; Junior (Under 20) 8,000m Boys, 6,000m girls; Senior Men 12,000m, Senior Women 8000m
The first twelve individuals and four teams in the Under Age (18 and Under) events will qualify for the All Ireland in Fairyhouse Racecourse, Co Meath, on Sunday November 25. The Connacht distances on Sunday next may be a little shorter than those to be run at National level.
The Uneven Ages Connacht Championships (Under 11,13,15,17,19) will be held in Galway on Sunday November 11.
Colin Griffin who had hoped to race the Dublin Marathon on Monday last after a promising half marathon in Charleville a few weeks ago was unable to compete as a knee injury picked up in the 140K Breiffne Challenge cycle run a few weeks ago had not fully recovered.
