Rain is on the way

Met Éireann has forecast some very wet and windy weather for Leitrim in the coming days.

It will turn increasingly windy on Monday night with rain developing and becoming widespread and heavy in parts.

There will be lowest temperatures of 8 to 10 degrees in strong south to southwest winds with gales on coasts.

For New Year's Eve it will be windy with rain quickly clearing to showers in the morning.

It will become largely dry for the afternoon.

There will be highest temperatures of 10 to 12 degrees in strong and gusty southwest winds, veering fresh westerly in the afternoon.

However, temperatures are set to drop to freezing at times early in the new year.
