In a welcome change, Ireland's Weather Channel has said that we can expect "above normal" temperatures this week as we head into the May Bank Holiday weekend

In a post online, they said : "In short, our weather this week will have temperatures which would ordinarily be above normal for the month of July rather than the end of April or the start of May. Values will be between 5-6 degrees Celsius above average, perhaps more in some areas.

"Some pockets of the country could see temperatures on Wednesday approaching the all time April record of 25.6 degrees Celsius. With temperatures widely over 21-22 degrees Celsius. Always a little colder however closer to the east coast initially, and the north coast later in the week."

However, they also warned that there may be some isolated thunder showers in some parts of the country on Wednesday. Luckily, they said that this will be the exception and the good weather is set to continue throughout the week.
