Potato blight warning issued for Leitrim farmers

Farmers advised to protect crops as blight conditions set in across Leitrim

Potato blight warning issued for Leitrim farmers

Farmers in  Leitrim have been urged to take action as a Yellow-level potato blight advisory has been issued for the county.

The warning, which came into effect this afternoon (June 11), will remain in place until midnight on Saturday, June 14.

The advisory has been issued due to weather conditions favorable for the spread of potato blight—a serious threat to crops during the growing season.

Growers in Leitrim are advised to check forecasts regularly and follow guidance in the Commentary section of the Met Éireann website for advice on prevention and treatment.

With warm, humid conditions expected over the coming days, farmers are reminded that early action can help prevent serious crop damage.
