As the country enjoys the hottest day of the year on Saturday with temperatures reaching 31 degrees in some parts, Met Éireann has now issued a Status Yellow thunderstorm warning for Leitrim and four other counties.

Heavy and thundery downpours are expected across the country on Sunday, but for now the warning has just been issued for Connacht, meaning Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Roscommon, and Sligo will all be impacted.

The thunderstorm warning is valid from 3pm to 10pm on Sunday, 13 July.
