RTÉ will be doing an hour-long programme on Carrick on Shannon's success in the National Tidy Towns contest which will be broadcast on RTE Radio One on Sunday, December 28th, at 7pm, it has been confirmed.
The documentary is presented by broadcaster John Murray.
"We spent the day in the town two weeks ago and got an insight into what goes into the application and the various initiatives such as the ash tree restoration project," Mr Murray said.
"It was Thursday, market day, in the town so we got to talk to traders as well about their business.
"What impressed us most was the voluntary effort that goes into Tidy Towns, with 70 plus volunteers, with as many as 30 or so Ukrainians adding hugely to the effort in recent times," Mr Murray said.
