The Art of Tax - Learn all you need to know about tax before October
Leitrim Creative Frame's new installment is all about tax, how it works and what you as an artist need to know about it.
Many arts professionals are juggling part time jobs and generating income from a number of different sources.
They often make their own tax returns and there is ambiguity about tax liability and qualifying for artist’s tax exemptions.
It’s that time of the year when the self employed are dreading the looming tax deadline at the end of October.
With this in mind Creative Frame, the free membership network for artists and creative practitioners based in Leitrim and the surrounding areas, is organising a training session with tax advisor John Dempsey.
John has worked extensively with creative businesses and individuals. The workshop takes place in the Council Chambers, Aras an Chontae, Carrick on Shannon on Tuesday, September 11. Registration is at 9.30am with the workshop running from 10am – 12.30pm.
The session will cover understanding tax liability, tax returns for self employed artists, applying for artists’ exemption, vat and when it applies for artists and the importance of keeping accurate accounts.
This introductory session on taxation will take the form of a lecture but will also allow plenty of time for general Q & A.
The cost of the morning session is €15 to members of Creative Frame.
If you are not yet registered with Creative Frame it’s free to do so at creativeframe.eu Early booking is advisable as numbers are strictly limited. To book a place on this highly informative event, visit thedock.ie
There will also be a limited number of one-to-one consults in the afternoon for individuals who have specific queries regarding their taxation.
These 30 minute consultations will take place from 1.30 – 5.30pm for an additional fee of €5 payable at registration.
If you would like to attend a clinic please send an email stating what you would like addressed during the clinic and also forward any relevant documents that you would like John to view in advance to Creative Frame: email@example.com.
