Marian O'Donoghue artist
This Friday, October 26 at 7.30pm, Solas Art Gallery Ballinamore opens its doors to two exciting solo shows by Marian O’ Donoghue and Rosemarie Langtry.
Marian lives in Mohill, her work is hugely popular and decorates many a wall nationwide.
Her trademark pastoral landscapes evoke timeless moments captured in rich strokes of paint.
Her inspiration comes from the beautiful scenery of the North West of Ireland which she captures with her unique style.
Rosemarie Langtry is a contemporary visual artist from Ballinahown, Co Westmeath. Rosemarie works predominately in encaustic, a technique using wax and pigments to build up layers of colour and intrigue.
Hues and forms of the local landscape, rust and found objects combine to inspire her artwork for “On or Below the Surface” and provide an intriguing art form to encapsulate memories from bygone days.
Bog cotton, heathers and even decaying antiquities become entwined within the layers of paint, melted wax and vibrant pigment to enthral and captivate the viewer with an air of mystique.
The shows will be opened by Mary Carleton Reynolds, County Librarian Longford.
Despite Mary’s extremely busy work-life as a librarian, she is a tireless advocate for the arts in the midland area with numerous art exhibitions, poetry and book launches and readings in Longford libraries.
Mary is also the Coordinator of Creative Ireland in the Longford area.
