Full to capacity
Ballinamore's Island Theatre held its first full-capacity event at the weekend and it was a roaring success.
The new fully seated venue has held a number of events since re-opening after the major transformation, but it was Seamus O'Rourke who attracted the full 241 crowd on Saturday night, March 5.
Seamus O'Rourke's show The Handyman pulled in a crowd from near and far and while most of the people were there for O'Rourke's witty turn of phrase, many more were there to have a good luck at the new hall.
On Saturday night just before the show started, local singer, songwriter Charlie McGettigan drew the winning ticket for the community hall's annual draw with Ballinamore's John Darcy winning the €5,000 prize.
Seamus O'Rourke congratulated the community on the fine venue and said he was delighted to perform to a full house. It was O'Roruke's last performance of The Handyman for a while, he now joins the cast of Tarry Flynn by Nomad Theatre Network & Livi Dred which goes on tour for the month of March and April.
The Island Theatre, Ballinamore will host The Loophole by Acorn players on March 18 and is preparing for the return of the Ballinamore Drama Festival April 5- 10.
