Bob Hassard RIP
The death occurred of Bob Hassard on Wednesday, 24 April 2013 peacefully at his residence in West Wickham, Kent, England after a short illness. Bob was formerly from Killegar and Calloughs, Carrigallen. He emigrated to England in the mid 50’s. There he met and married Eileen Brown, a native of Dublin. They had three children Eileen, Kiernan and Frank. Bob and his family were frequent visitors to the Carrigallen area over the years. His many hobbies included gardening, fishing, attending vintage machinery shows and visiting his many friends while in Ireland. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Sympathy is extended to his wife Eileen, daughter, sons, son-in-law Mark, daughter-in-law Elizabeth, five grandchildren, two sisters Vera and Maggie. Burial took place following the Funeral Service in Kent. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam uasal.
Margaret of New Orleans Committee present ‘Margaret’s Hooley’ - a night of entertainment in aid of Margaret of New Orleans Birthplace on Friday 24 May 2013 in the Corn Mill Theatre & Arts Centre, Carrigallen, Co Leitrim. Coffee morning on Friday, 17 May 2013 from 10:00am to 12:30 pm above Carrigallen Post Office. One of our members is doing a class/demo on dress-making, followed by making patterns, cutting out etc., so please come along, all welcome. Corn Mill Amateur Drama Group
Corn Mill Amateur Drama Group Auditions are being held in the Corn Mill Theatre and Arts Centre on 25th and 26th May from 12 noon. All ages welcome, male and female. Auditions are for a Christmas production of a new musical, ‘Cobblestone Sam’, written by Dave Rooney and Bill Monks. Directed by Jessica O’Rourke and produced by Jacqui Rooney Davey. A big thank you to everyone who supported Carrigallen Cuppa and Chatter on Sunday. It was a huge success and over €500 was raised for Focus Ireland on the day. People were very generous and we’d like to thank you for your generosity and support. A sincere thank you goes to the Corn Mill Theatre and Arts Centre for providing the perfect venue for a fun family event. Also thanking those who helped on the day with different activities, serving tea and coffee, The Screen Room, photographers who put their photos into the exhibition and all who came along and supported. It was a lovely afternoon in the heart of Carrigallen and hopefully we will make it something more regular.
The draw was held on Saturday 11 May 2013 and the numbers drawn on the night were 3, 9, 25, and 32. There was no Jackpot winner and the four winners of €50 each were Padraig Harte, Tom & Louis Lunney, Joey McManus and Jerome Maguire. Next week’s draw will be held on 18 May in Mitchell’s Bar and the Jackpot will be €6,500 and those in charge on the night will be Rory Harte, Eamonn Dolan and Michael Donohoe.
The Carers Association
The Carers Association are holding an information evening in Mitchell’s Function Room, Carrigallen on 15 May at 8:30pm. Guest speaker is Majella O’Donnell from The Alzheimer’s Society who will provide information on coping with Alzheimers. All welcome!
Leitrim Association of People with Disabilities Memorial Event in Memory of the late Howard Cusack and Sr. Emmanuel Farrelly 5K walk and 2K Fun run, Walk and Roll on Sunday 26 May 2013 at 12:30pm. The Event will be launched by Alan Devine (Louie) Fair City and dramaclub.ie and Andy McGovern, Author of “Against the Odds”. Entry fee €10, families €20, everybody welcome.
