Philip completes cycle

Philip completes cycle

Cloonturk man Philip Howard returns home today after a gruelling four months in the saddle. He completed his cycle on Saturday last, May 11th after cycling 12,000 km from Cairo to Cape Town, in aid of Pieta House. Philip braved it all the way on the bike not having to take to the TDA truck at any stage even when on a few occasions when he was suffering some ill-health. Well done Philip a great adventure for a worthy cause.

Dromod Family Festival – A Big Thank you

A big thank you to everyone who came out on the day. The weather was touch and go but somebody was watching over us with a big umbrella. The fun run goes from strength to strength and the cake sale gets better and tastier every year. Rooskey, Annaduff and Bornacoola NSs art work had many admirers. The dog show was another success and the bouncy castles didn’t stop bouncing.

Our new addition of the miniature farmyard animals was a huge success with young and old alike and have already been snapped up for next year.
Once again from all of the Festival Committee, we would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who donated sponsorship, their time, baking, livestock, tractors, and most of all your community support by coming out on the day. It was another great day for Dromod.

Special thanks to Noreen Diffley and Martin Downes for kindly letting us use their fields and to Ronnie Duignan for DJing on the day. Roll on 2014 when we can do it all again. A big thank you from John, Niall, Seamus, Tony and Darryn.
