The death has taken place at St.Patrick’s Hospital, Carrick-onShannon of Mrs. Maud McGovern, Laragon. Sam for Mayflower
The famous Sam Maguire Cup currently residing in Donegal will pay a rare visit to Drumshanbo on tomorrow Thursday evening. Dr. Charles McManus will bring the famous Cup to the Mayflower at 7.30pm at the invitation of Allen Gaels to tie in with the announcement of the winner of the charity mayor of Drumshanbo Contest. The result will be announced at 8.30pm. The event will be an opportunity for the young and the young at heart to have their picture taken alongside the famous football trophy which has yet to officially reside in Co. Leitrim. However, there is always this year…!
Last Sunday, May 5 saw an exciting new addition to the An Tóstal Festival calendar, the first Vintage and Family Fun Day. Great crowds enjoyed a fantastic vintage display, entertainment and fun for all the family. An Tóstal festival committee would like to thank the many people who helped to make the day such a success. Thank you to Fergal McPartland and all the businesses at the Food Hub for the use of the premises, and also the local residents. Our generous sponsors, Pat and Teresa Mulvey of Kids Kingdom, Carrick-on-Shannon for the fantastic Gate Prize and Mackel Pet Foods, Moy, Co. Tyrone for sponsoring prizes for the dog show.

A public meeting will be held in Áras Phádraig on tomorrow evening Thursday 16 May at 8.30pm. A representative from each household in the area is requested to attend.
Tidy Towns committee
The Pride in Drumshanbo group were delighted to welcome all our new volunteers and committee members that attended the first meeting of the year held in the Lough Allen Hotel recently. It was very encouraging to see a so many new faces eager to help us with this year’s projects. New volunteers always welcome. One Day for Rehab
Rehab Care Ballinamore will be hosting a fundraising event on this Friday, 17 May in the resource centre in Ballinamore from 12.30-2.30pm. We will be having a barbecue, cake sale and a sale of work. The cost of the barbecue will be €10 and this will include a glass of wine. We would really appreciate your support.

Leitrim served warning of their serious intent in this year’s Football Championship when they demolished a weak New York side in brilliant sunshine at the famous Gaelic Park, NY.
Congratulations to the Leitrim squad and Management and well done to Allen Gaels star Alan Wynne who started for Leitrim in his usual right full back position and had a great game returning from injury. Next up the winners of Sligo and London at Pairc Sean at the end of June in a Connacht Semi- Final.
LAPWD Fun Run
Leitrim Association of People with Disabilities Memorial Event in Memory of the late Howard Cusack and Sr.Emmanuel Farrelly 5k walk and 2k Fun run, Walk and Roll. Sunday, May 26 at 12.30pm in Mohill. The event will be launched by Alan Devine (Louie) Fair City and dramaclub.ie and Andy McGovern, author of “Against the Odds”. Entry Fee €10, families €20, everybody welcome. Medal for everyone completing the route along with spot prizes and refreshments.

Due to popular demand Drumkeerin Drama Group is putting on one last performance of their much acclaimed production of Bernard Farrell’s great comedy drama ‘Say Cheese’ on Friday night, 17th May in Drumkeerin Community Centre commencing at 8.30pm. Doors open at 7.45pm. Already the play has attracted huge audiences over the performances.
The Group very much regrets that so many had to be turned away from the door on the Sunday night as the Centre was full. So those who were disappointed on that night will have the opportunity to enjoy this outstanding production of comedy, drama and suspense as Bridie and Valentine, Ireland’s Happiest Couple, relive their wedding of thirty years earlier and the murky secrets as the action unfolds.
Cultural Diversity Week
Event in Drumshanbo Library celebrating Cultural Diversity Week in County Leitrim 17th to 25th May. On Saturday, 25th May from 11.00am to 12.30pm Intercultural Storytelling: Children’s Folk tales and Stories. This event is free. All children attending must be accompanied by an adult, sign in and out sheets will be provided, sign in from 10.30am to 10.55am.
